The media, including myself, are dying, just dying to go back to the old ways of analyzing box office gross receipts, declaring immediate bombs, accusing studios of over-or-under spending, and the whole WTF of it all.īut we need to remember, the domestic box office is still being graded on a curve, because, hello, we’re still in a pandemic, and there’s still headlines of new variants every day, with movie theaters checking vax cards in box office capitals like Los Angeles and NYC (remember, some people refuse to be vaccinated) and everyone still wearing masks. Sure, absolutely, we’ve seen better Thanksgivings at the box office, and this year’s estimated 5-day total of $145.5M isn’t even in Comscore’s top 10 for the holiday, off 45% from 2019’s $263.4M, when Frozen 2 was on the marquee. House of Gucci played best in the larger city markets, especially in the West. Close to 40% of the audience said they came out for Lady Gaga, while 32% cited the ensemble cast of Adam Driver, Al Pacino, and Jared Leto, while 34% were intrigued by the Gucci family murder plot. The first half of both seasons are absolutely fantastic and are some of the best content this show has put out, and the second half of both seasons aren't quite as good, but still manage to have their own gems, and are still pretty solid in general, so they definitely don't bring down the season's rating.'Encanto' Review: Walt Disney Animation's 60th Movie Doesn't Reach The Heights Of Their Best, But Still Has Some Magic For The Familyįemales turned out at 60%, giving the film an 84% positive, with men at 40% with 80% positive. The two halves of this season seem to really differ in quality. Also, interestingly enough, the quality progression in this season is very similar to that of season 3. I respect opinions, but I honestly don't get why some people think this show started its downfall at this season, when a vast majority of episodes compare to the Pre-Movie era's best, and this season in general, is just as enjoyable. In fact, it's basically at the same level as season 3, my favorite Pre-Movie season. The animation in this season is pretty solid as well.Ĭontrary to what certain people say, I think this season is absolutely fascinating and definitely compares to the Pre-Movie era in terms of quality. While some of the other episodes don't have as many jokes as the aforementioned ones, most of those manage to throw in a few great jokes as well. Even the more story-focused episodes have humor as well. Several episodes in this season are filled with jokes, such as Fear of a Krabby Patty, Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture, Krusty Towers, and Born to Be Wild. While there are some episodes in which the plot isn't that great, such as All That Glitters and Wigstruck, those are rare in this season.Īnd just because this season focuses more on story compared to the seasons that came before, that doesn't mean this season is devoid of humor. I could go on about this season's fantastic premises. Squidtastic Voyage features SpongeBob and Patrick going inside Squidward's body to retrieve his clarinet reed.
Patrick SmartPants has Patrick becoming smart and feels as though he doesn't fit in with SpongeBob's childlike nature, but later realizes if it's actually worth giving up such a meaningful friendship. Krabs's mother after thinking that Karen isn't right for him. Enemy In-Law as Plankton falling in love with Mr. Krabs realizing that money isn't everything, and that restaurant management should care for its customers as well. Selling Out has businessmen taking over the Krusty Krab, which results in Mr. Krabs to court, which is definitely one of Plankton's most creative ways to steal the formula.
Fear of a Krabby Patty has SpongeBob becoming afraid of Krabby Patties due to being worked endlessly. A vast majority of episodes have interesting premises.
I really love this season's stories in general. The thing that stands out most about this season is definitely the plots. There are also some people that say this season is of similar quality to the Pre-Movie seasons. However, this season seems to be getting more love nowadays, as many people say that this season and season 5 are pretty decent and shouldn't be considered part of the show's Dark Era. It's seemingly considered by some people to be the start of the show's supposed "downfall in quality" to the point that later on, the bad episodes would outnumber the good. So, season 4's reception is weird to describe.
